2016 (Freshman): Played in 11 games as a backup catcher as a redshirt freshman...played catcher and went 0-for-1 in the 20-4 game two win over Marshall (2/20)...substituted in to catch in the final two games of the Jackson State series, but didn’t record an at bat...caught the ninth inning of the series finale at Savannah State (3/20) and went 0-for-1 at the plate...closed out game two against NC Central (4/2) playing catcher, but went 0-for-1...recorded his first-career RBI on a groundout, while going 0-1 and substituted in at catcher against Mercer (5/11)...recorded his first-career hit, while going 1-for-1 and coming in to catch in the seventh inning against NC A&T (5/13).

2015 (Redshirted):  Redshirted as a true freshman.

Personal:  Born on January 24, 1996...went to Seminole High School in Sanford, FL before moving back to Tallahassee and attending Lincoln High School...transferred to Rickards High School his senior year...has a long history of family connections with FAMU...cousin Clemon Johsnon was a former Head Basketball Coach for FAMU (2011-14) and played basketball at FAMU (1974-78) before playing in the NBA with the Portland Trail Blazers, Philadelphia 76ers and Indiana Pacers...cousin Cedric Jones played football for FAMU from 1988-91...cousin Derek Byrd played basketball at FAMU from 1987-90...cousin Donald Johnson, Sr., was a catcher for the FAMU baseball team from 1966-70...son of Jackie and Fred Byrd...majoring in Business Administration.
