Rattlers Hanging Tough At MEAC Championships

Landover, MD (Feb.17) - The Florida A&M Rattlers lost ground today after being overcome by deep competition in the 2012 MEAC Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Prince George Sports Complex and Learning Center.

Jean Leon paced the Rattlers with a fourth place finish in the tough men's heptathlon.Leon finished third in the 60m hurdles (9.02), second in the 1,000m run (2:54.97) and fifth in the pole vault to scored 4,306 event points.

Jeremy Tillman qualified for the 60m dash finals with a 6.83 qualifying time. He will compete in the finals that will take place on Saturday.

The FAMU Distance Medley Relay (DMR) team had a Top 10 finish, taking sixth place. The team of Owolabi Deji, Derrick Morgan, Lamere Buchanon and Shuaib Winters finished the tough race in 10:28.29.

The Rattlers will try to score more points on the final day of competition tomorrow. Events start at 9.a.m.
