Lady Rattlers Take Second In A Row 6-1 Over NCA&T

GREENSBORO, N.C. (March 5) - The Florida A&M Women's Tennis team won their second straight match as they defeated North Carolina A&T, 6-1 here Monday afternoon at Piedmont Indoor Tennis Court.

FAMU (2-5, 2-0 MEAC) won the doubles point as they won all three doubles matches. In No. 1 doubles action, the team of Kathline Durden and Alexis Brown defeated Cayla Cross and Azeib Nigatu, 8-2. Elysia Ortiz and Bethany Holt would secure the double point for the Lady Rattlers as they defeated Nianna Henry and Kimberly Stallings, 8-4 in the No. 2 doubles play. Then the team of Shani Williams and Brittney Dean would win the No. 3 doubles as they defeated Kenya Colbert and April Burrage, 8-5.

The Lady Rattlers would win the No. 1 singles competition as Durden pulled out a 7-5, 6-2 win over Niogatu. In a heated No. 5 singles match, Williams won the first set 6-2, and then would drop the second set 6-7 to Colbert. Williams would then pull out the win as she won the final set 10-6.
FAMU would go on to win the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 6 singles competition.

N.C. A&T (2-9) would win the No. 4 singles match up as Stallings defeated Dean, 6-2, 6-2.

The Lady Rattlers will return to action on Tuesday, March 6 as they will travel to Durham, NC., to take on North Carolina Central in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference match up.
