Lady Rattlers Have Solid Team Effort In FSU Relays

TALLAHASSEE,FL (Mar.24) - The FAMU Lady Rattlers had an impressive showing at the FSU Relays on Saturday at Mike Long Track. The Lady Rattlers had several Top 10 finishes in one of their most impressive outings against national competition.

Dynasty Jones ran an impressive 54.57 in the 400m run to capture second place in the collegiate division. Jeanette Hulse would also place int he race with a 57.32 to capture 10th place.

Ariel Allen captured third place in a tough field in the 800m run. Her third place time of 2:10.80 was just ahead of teammate Chandelic Jackson, who came in sixth at 2:14.80. Allen would also bring home an eighth place finish in the 1500m run.

Sprinter Nakia Linson took seventh place in the 100m dash with a time of 12.10 against a very heavy headwind. Jones would take sixth place in the 200m dash, running 24.56 for that placement.

Distance runner, Nadine Mulvaney scored a fourth place finish int he 500m run. She finished in 17:49.86, just ahead of Ciera Williams, who took eighth place in 18:18.93.

Brittany Jones has shown improvement, with a seventh place finish in the 400m huedles. She finished in a time of 1:02.47. Right behind Jones was Hulse, who finished eighth in 1:03.33.

What could have been the crowning glory of the meet for the Lady Rattlers was the 4x100m relay. The Lady Rattlers had blazed to the front of the pack for three legs, until an erroneous handoff on the final leg cost the Lady Rattlers the lead. In the end, the team finished fourth (Louis, Linson, Jones,Smith) in 46.17.

In the 4x400m relay, the team of Hulse, Allen, D. Jones and Linson took fourth place, clocking in at 3:47.13.

Stephanie Colter led the Lady Rattlers in the field events with a fourth place finish in the high jump. Colter leaped 1.58m (5-02.25) across the beam. Linson took second place in the long jump, thrusting 5.83m (19-01.50). kinnesha Jones would take fifth place at 5.56m (18-03.00). Jones also placed sixth in the triple jump in 11.81m (38-09.00) against a stiff headwind.

Sasha-Ann Lebert took fifth place in the women's discus throw in 39.92m (131-00). Smith would take 10th place overall int he javelin throw with a heave of 35.35m (116-00).
