Lady Rattlers Can't Counter Aggies In 8-3 Loss

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (April 6) - North Carolina A&T remains unbeaten in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play as the Lady Aggies handed the Florida A&M Softball team, an 8-3 defeat here Friday afternoon at the Lady Rattler Softball Complex.

Both the Lady Aggies and the Lady Rattlers finished with 11 hits each.

Sabrina Edmonds had the hot bat for N.C. A&T as she connected on three hits in four at-bats, while scoring one run.

Arianna Stewart also had a hot bat for the Lady Rattlers as she recorded three hits in four at-bats, while scoring one run to lead FAMU.

Ashira Dobison (10-11) picked up the win for the Lady Aggies as she gave up 11 hits, three earned runs and struck out one in seven innings. Jennifer Lindsey (6-7) pitched four innings, allowing six hits, four earned runs and struck out four in the 20 batters she faced.

N.C. A&T took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning as Dominique Smith tripled to left, scoring Ericka Turner, who singled to right field in her at-bat. Smith would score on a Tranea Jones double to left field.

Tera Gainer cut the Lady Aggies' lead to 2-1 as she singled to left side scoring Alyssa Weaver in the bottom of the third inning.

A two-run homer by Smith would increase the Lady Aggies' lead to 4-1 in the top of the fourth inning.

N.C. A&T would score four more runs in the top of the fifth inning to increase their lead to 8-1.

Gainer would cut into the Lady Aggies' lead once more as she homered to left field scoring herself and Stewart for the 8-3 finale.

The Lady Rattlers will return to action on Saturday, April 7 as they will conclud their three-game MEAC series with North Carolina A&T in a doubleheader with game, with the first slated to start at 1 p.m.
