Seven FAMU Tennis Stars Make MEAC All-Academic Team

NORFOLK,VA (April 11) - The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced the 2012 Men's and Women's Tennis All-Academic selections, honoring 54 student-athletes, from the conference's 13 institutions who achieved academic success during the 2011-12 academic school year.
MEAC sophomore, junior and senior student-athletes with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average as well as transfer student-athletes who have been in residence at the institution for at least one year are eligible for All-Academic accolades.

"I commend our men's and women's tennis student-athletes who have maintained a 3.0 or better grade point average during the academic school year," said Commissioner Dennis E. Thomas. " I would further like to congratulate the coaches, academic support staff and parents of these academic achievers for their contributions to the student-athletes' success."

The FAMU Lady Rattlers placed four players on the team. Kathline Durden, Bethany Holt, Vanessa McCall and Shani Williams all made the team.

The Rattlers placed three players on the team. Temuera Asafu-Adjaye, Takura Happy and Fabrice Myrtil.

The Rattlers and Lady Rattlers are both in Raleigh, NC in preparation for this weekend's MEAC Tennis Championship.
