NORFOLK, VA (May.9) – FAMU senior outfielder Ashanti Shepherd and pitcher Jennifer Lindsey were named to the 2013 All-MEAC Softball team, the conference announced today at the MEAC Softball Championship in Ormond Beach, FL.
Shepherd, a 5'6” senior from Moore Haven, FL was a first team selection. She had a stellar season leading the Lady Rattlers. She leads FAMU from the plate going 44-for-112 at bats. She batted .393, with 44 hits, five RBIs, 10 walks and 22 walks. Defensively, she made 40 putouts against only two errors.
Lindsey, a 5'6” senior from Jacksonville, FL was a second team selection. Lindsey was 13-18 this season with a 3.15 ERA. She pitched 13 complete games, allowing 48 walks and getting 100 strikeouts. She pitched 173.1 innings.
The Lady Rattlers will compete in the first round of the MEAC softball championships this weekend, beginning with Delaware State today at 1:30 p.m., at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex.
