FAMU Lady Cagers Breeze Past SCSU, 81-61

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (Feb. 25) – The FAMU Women's Basketball team breezed to an 81-61 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference road win over South Carolina State Saturday afternoon at the Smith-Hammond Memorial Center.

FAMU (11-17, 9-6 MEAC) lead 21-12 after one quarter and 40-22 at the half, after shooting 48 percent from the floor, while holding SCSU to a paltry 19 percent shooting.

The Rattlers got 57 points from bench scoring on the day, as they held off the Lady Bulldogs, 41-39 in second half scoring.

Junior Dawn King was one of those bench performers, scoring a game-high 18 points, highlighted by 4-of-6 three-point shooting, while Kalybriah Haskins added 13 points off the bench. Forward Shakerrya Morrison pulled down 11 rebounds, nine of the defensive variety.

Bryeasha Blair led SCSU (5-21, 2-13 MEAC) with 16 points and seven rebounds, followed by Jahmia Bradley with 14 points and Brittany Drumgoole with 10 points.

WHAT'S NEXT: FAMU closes the regular season next Thursday on the road at first place Bethune-Cookman (6:00) in Daytona Beach, Florida.
