Hampton University (11-4), the top-seeded team from the Northern Division, won the doubles point with victories at No.1 and No. 2, then clinched the match with victories at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 singles.
The FAMU doubles pairing of Olivia Rolle and Karen Machisa, won the No. 3 doubles, 6-2 over Haley Mullins and Anastasia Romanova of Hampton.
FAMU finished the season, 3-15.
MEAC Tournament Update – Women’s Division
In Thursday’s other quarterfinal matches, Morgan State defeated Bethune-Cookman, 4-3, to advance to face Hampton in one Friday semifinal at 9:00 a.m.
Meanwhile on Thursday, Southern Division top seed, South Carolina State defeated Howard University, 4-0, while North Carolina A&T doubled up Norfolk State, 4-2, to earn a Friday date against S.C. State at 9:00 a.m.
The Women’s Championship is at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
