Release:02/06/2018

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (Feb. 5) - Logan McIntosh sank a pair of free throws with 6.4 seconds left and Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball made one last defensive stand to beat Florida A&M 62-61 on Monday night at the Hytche Athletic Center.

The tightly-fought game started out as a low-scoring affair, with the Hawks pulling ahead slightly for a 26-21 halftime lead.

The teams stayed joined at the hip for the entire night with neither side clearing a lead of more than seven. The Hawks and Rattlers traded nine ties and 12 lead changes.

Desmond Williams netted his team's first six points after the break, helping the Rattlers tie it at 31-31 and 33-33 in the first four minutes.

The Hawks (6-19, 2-8 MEAC) then surged back to a seven-point cushion with Ahmad Frost nailing a three to make it 42-35 with 13:45 to go.

FAMU worked its way back to tie it at 44-44 and 47-47, then Justin Ravenel rolled in a pair of free throws to give the Rattlers their first lead of the second half at the 7:35 mark.

The Rattlers eventually pushed the lead to 57-52 with 4:08 to go, but Frost nailed one from deep to make it a two-point game, and McIntosh attacked for an and-one to tie it and the free throw to put the Hawks up 58-57 at the 2:00 mark.

Marcus Barham tipped it back in the Rattlers' favor with a layup at 1:46, then Williams hit the front end of a pair of free throws to make it 60-58 with 1:21 to go.

Miryne Thomas then knocked down a jumper with 53 seconds left to tie it at 60-60. Florida A&M got one more free throw from Williams to retake a one-point lead, setting up McIntosh's heroics at the gun.

Frost led all scorers with 19 points, including three treys. Thomas posted his fifth double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Williams and Ravenel each had 17 points to lead the Rattlers (4-22, 3-7 MEAC), while Barham added 15.

WHAT'S NEXT: FAMU returns home for a MEAC Weekender, this coming Saturday and Monday, hosting North carolina Central Saturday at 6:00 p.m., and Morgan State Monday at 8:00 p.m., in the Al Lawson Center.
