HARRAHAN, La. (Oct. 21) – The Florida A&M University (FAMU) Women's Bowling team opened their 2018-19 campaign this past weekend with a 10th place finish in the Allstate Sugar Bowl Invitational, hosted by Tulane University.
Coach Karen Brown's Lady Rattlers recorded a total pin fall of 11,312 in 63 games, good for a 174.0 average, finishing the three-day event, 5-8 overall.
In the Baker Round, FAMU finished 3-2, with wins over Alabama State (906 to 868), Alabama A&M (902 to 751), and Grambling (923 to 630).
The Lady Rattlers went 1-4 in the Traditional Round of play, knocking off MEAC rival North Carolina A&T, 928-892.
In Sunday's Championship round, FAMU finished 1-2, besting Texas Southern, 918-863.
INDIVIDUAL FAMU PLAYER RESULTS
Player-wise, newcomer LeAnn McLaughlin posted the top showing for FAMU, with a 173.0 average (865 pins) in five games, with a high game of 184.
Veteran Monique Ragland rolled a 170.6 average (853 pins) in five games, with high game of 186.
Sophomore Keondra Eaton rolled a 183.25 average (733) in four games, with a team-best high game of 208.
Demetria Bethel turned in a 173.25 average (693) through four games, with a high game of 205.
Freshman LeAnne Militscher finished with a four-game average of 170.50 (682), rolling a 189 high game.
Bethany Noel rounded out the FAMU contingent with a three-game total of 488, good for a 162.67 average, with a 171 high game.
WHAT'S NEXT: FAMU will be off until Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 10 and 11, when they head to Wilmington, Delaware for the first of two in-season Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament, this one hosted by Delaware State University.
