Rattler Women Drop Road Opener At UNF, 64-53

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Nov. 16) – The FAMU Women's Basketball team showed a much improved shooting touch in Friday's 64-53 road setback against the University of North Florida.

FAMU (0-2) shot 36.2 percent (21 of 58) from the floor Friday evening, after shooting just 19 percent in their season opening loss to Jacksonville (Ala.) State, Nov. 6, allowing them to remain in contention throughout the game.

Trailing 17-6 after one quarter, FAMU began heating up, as the Ospreys just edged them, 15-13 in the second quarter, for a 32-19 halftime count.

FAMU outscored UNF (2-1), 18-14 in the third period, shooting 61,5 percent (8 of 11) from the floor coming out of the lockeroom, to trail just 46-37 heading into the final period.

UNF was two points better than the Rattlers in the fourth, 18-16, to push the final margin past double digits.

Newcomer Mya Moye led all scorers with 24 points for FAMU, hitting six of 12 from distance, while sophomore Dy'Manee Royal added 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

UNF placed three players in double figures, led by Tiffany Tolbert with 14 points, AnnaEmanuel-Wright with 12 points and 11 rebounds, followed by Adrienne Jackson with 11 points and six boards.

WHAT'S NEXT: FAMU was slated to play the University of Tennessee Lady Vols on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Knoxville.
