Rattler Men Stung Sunday At Georgia Tech, 73-40

ATLANTA, Ga. (Dec. 9) – The FAMU Men's Basketball team got off to a cold start here Sunday and couldn't overcome it, as they dropped a 73-40 road verdict to Georgia Tech at the McCarrish Pavillion.

The Rattlers (3-8) shot 28 percent in the opening half (6 of 21), missing on a trio of three-point tries, while Tech (5-3), shot 60.9 percent (14 of 23) to start the game, splashing 3 of 6 triples to forge a 36-13 halftime lead.

FAMU scored 27 points in the second half, hitting 10 of 25 shots, and 2 of 8 triples, while Tech finished the second stanza shooting 47.8 percent (11 of 23) from the field with a trio of three-pointers, and 12 of 14 free throws.

Junior Rod Melton, Jr., led FAMU with nine points. Atlanta sophomore Bryce Moragne finished with seven points, four rebounds and four steals, while Kamron Reaves and Ifeanyl Umezurike each added six points, with Umezurike pulling down a team-high eight rebounds.

Brandon Alston led Tech with 15 points, with Khalid Moore adding 14 points Sunday.

WHAT'S NEXT: FAMU will continue their pre-conference road tour next Monday, Dec. 17 at Utah, and next Tuesday, Dec. 18 at Oregon.
