PORTLAND, Ore. (Decc. 21) - The FAMU Men's Basketball team dropped a hard-fought 54-39 road decision to the Univrsity of Portland Friday evening at the Chiles Center.
Portland put FAMU sharpshooter Justin Ravenel under a serious dragnet, limiting the senior to five points, on 2 of 9 shooting, with one three-pointer in five tries.
Freshman M.J. Randolph and junior Nasir Core each shared the club scoring lead with 10 points apiece. Randolph also added six rebounds. Kamron Reaves chipped in with five points, while Tracy Hector pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.
Josh McSwiggan led all scorers with 16 points and seven rebounds. Marcus Shaver, Jr., added 13 points and JoJo Wicker finished with 12 points. Franklin Porter pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.
FAMU trailed 29-18 at the half, before playing UP much tighter in the second half, barely getting outpaced, 25-21.
