TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | Florida A&M University head volleyball coach Gokhan Yilmaz announced the upcoming 2019 schedule, which features four tournaments prior to beginning Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play.
The Lady Rattlers, who 11-16 overall and won the MEAC South Division with a 9-1 record, will hold an exhibition match on Aug. 24 when Embry-Riddle comes to town.
Florida A&M opens the season at the MEAC/SWAC Challenge Aug. 30-31 in Montgomery, Ala. The Lady Rattlers will take on Alabama A&M and Alabama State on Aug. 30 and conclude tournament play on Aug. 31 against Texas Southern and Jackson State.
FAMU will have its 2019 home opener on Sept. 3 against Mercer, before travelling to Lafayette, La. The Lady Rattlers open the Louisiana-Lafayette Invite against Eastern Michigan and McNeese State on Sept. 6, and will conclude the tournament against host Louisiana-Lafayette on Sept. 7.
Florida A&M will participate in the FAMU/FSU Invite Sept. 13 and 14. The Lady Rattlers will play at FSU on Sept. 13 against St. John’s and Sept. 14 against Florida State. FAMU will have a noon match on Sept. 14 at home against Stony Brook.
The final tune-up prior to MEAC play is Sept. 20 and 21 at the Troy Invite. Florida A&M will take on Southern on Sept. 20, and end tournament play on Sept. 21 against The Citadel and host Troy.
The Lady Rattlers begin MEAC competition on Sept. 27 and Sept. 29 with back-to-back home games against Norfolk State and Howard.
Florida A&M takes to the road for its next three matches, first against Presbyterian on Oct. 5 in non-conference play, followed by a trip to South Carolina State (Oct. 6) and rival Bethune-Cookman (Oct. 8).
North Carolina Central and North Carolina A&T State come to town on Oct. 11 and Oct. 13, before Florida A&M steps out of conference play on Oct. 15 at North Florida.
The Lady Rattlers will play host to Coppin State (Oct. 18) and Morgan State (Oct. 20), before back-to-back road matches against Maryland Eastern Shore (Oct. 25) and Delaware State (Oct. 27).
Florida A&M plays its next three matches at home against Alabama State (Oct. 29), South Carolina State (Nov. 3) and Bethune-Cookman (Nov. 8).
The Lady Rattlers conclude the regular season Nov. 15 and Nov. 17 at North Carolina Central and North Carolina A&T State, respectively.
