FAMU Volleyballers Bite Bulldogs Sunday, 3-1

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (Oct. 6) – The FAMU Volleyball team snapped a brief two-match slide here Sunday afternoon, with a 3-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference match victory over South Carolina State at Duke Gymnasium.

FAMU (4-12, 2-1 MEAC) won the first two sets, 25-17 and 25-10, before SCSU (0-15, 0-3 MEAC) won the third set, 25-22. The Rattlers closed out the match in the fourth, but not without a fight from State, easing past the Bulldogs, 25-23.

Junior outside Alexis Gosha led FAMU Sunday with 18 kills, nine digs and four blocks, followed by Maria Garcia's 16 kills and 10 digs, along with 10 kills, 29 assists and six digs from Elena Dimitrova.

Freshman Nahla Muhammad led FAMU Sunday with 19 digs.

COMING UP NEXT: FAMU ends a three-match road swing Tuesday in Daytona Beach against rival Bethune-Cookman at 6:00 p.m.
