MONTGOMERY, Ala. (Nov. 17) – The FAMU Women's Bowling Team played at a championship level here in the ASU Hornet Invitational, coming up just short to Jackson (Miss.) State in Sunday's final round.
The Rattler Women posted an 11-2 tournament mark over the weekend, getting edged out by Jackson State's 12-1 finish.
FAMU finished 2-1 in Sunday's championship round, dropping the final to JSU, after both teams completed the first two days of play with identical 9-1 records.
FAMU recorded a pin fall total of 11,864 (179.8 average) in 66 total games overall.
@ In Baker Play, FAMU went 7-1 with a total pins count of 7,454 in 41 games, good for a 181.80 average.
@ In Traditional Play, the Rattlers knocked down 4,410 pins in 25 games, for a 176.4 average., en route to a 4-1 finish.
Seven players made up the Rattler contingent, led by Keondra Eaton, who placed sixth in the individual standings with a 186.6 average in five games, with a 212 high game.
Bethany Noel finished 10th with a 181.4 average in five games, with a 214 high game; Demetria Bethel took 12th with a 178.0 average in three games, with a 201 high game.
Also contending for FAMU were: Chelsea Cleaves (173.8 in four games, 193 high); Monique Ragland (171.3 in four games, 189 high); LeAnn Militscher (169.7 average in three games, 179 high); and LeAnne McLaughlin (147.0 in one game).
WHAT'S NEXT: The Rattlers return to action Friday, January 24 through Sunday, January 26, as they host the Rattler invitational at Galimore Lanes on the FAMU campus.
