TALLAHASSEE,FL (May 3) - TALLAHASSEE,FL - It never takes much for any competition between the Florida A&M Rattlers and the B-CU Wildcats to have a significance. The natural rivalry makes every game intense, but this weekend's softball series adds MEAC positioning to the mix. The FAMU Lady Rattlers (21-27, 7-4 MEAC) will face the Lady Wildcats (26-26, 11-1 MEAC), in a weekend series that has direct implications on the positioning for next week's MEAC Championship in Ormond Beach, FL.

The Lady Rattlers are coming off a sweep of the SC State Lady Bulldogs at home last week. The Lady Rattlers took three games, with pitcher Jennifer Lindsey getting two wins in the process. Her efforts were rewarded with being selected the MEAC Pitcher of the Week, for the second consecutive week. Tera Gainer had the hot bat for the Lady Rattlers, going 6-for-9 in the series.

The Lady Wildcats are coming off a loss to Conference USA power UCF. The Lady Knights blanked the Lady Wildcats 4-0 in the home finale for B-CU. B-CU committed an uncharacteristic three errors in the game, in essence sealing the outcome.

The Lady Rattlers can solidify the third seed in the southern division by having a successful weekend . The Lady Wildcats are looking to sweep the Lady Rattlers, ensuring a repeat as regular season champions.

The first game of the series will be Friday, May 4 at 3 p.m. The game will be nationally televised on ESPNU. Saturday, the teams return for a doubleheader, with the first pitch beginning at 1 p.m.

In addition to the game being the home finale, it is also "Seniors Day." The Lady Rattlers will honor five seniors who will be playing their last games at the Lady Rattlers Softball Complex. To be honored are: Tenisha Dixon, Jasmin Donaldson, Tera Gainer, Courtney Harold and Whitney Robinson.
