FAMU finished the contest with eight hits as eight Lady Rattlers finished with one hit each, while Coppin State tallied four hits as four Lady Eagles finished with one hit each.
In the pitcher's duel, FAMU's Jennifer Lindsey (13-8) picked up the win as she went the distance pitching 11 innings giving up four hits, one run and striking out four in the 43 batters she faced, while the MEAC Pitcher of the Year Paige Arnold (15-14) received the loss as she gave up eight hits, one earned run and struck out nine in 11 innings of work.
Whitney Robinson scored the Lady Rattlers' first run of the game as she tripled to right field to lead off the top of the sixth inning, then scored on a Tenisha Dixon sacrifice fly to center field, giving FAMU a 1-0 lead.
CSU would tie the game in the bottom of the sixth inning as Candice Van Horn stole home on a double steal, tying the game at 1-1.
FAMU would score four runs in top of the 11th inning on Lady Eagles errors as both Obie Roberson and Tenisha Dixon scored on a CSU infielder's error, followed by an another infielder's errors scoring both Jasmin Donanldson and Christina Robbs for the 5-1 win.
FAMU raises their record to 25-27 as they will face No. 4 S Hampton University in a 7 p.m. nightcap, whereas CSU lowered their record to 20-21 as they will face Norfolk State in a 4:30 p.m. start.
