NORFOLK,VA (Sept.19) - FAMU Lady Rattler distance runner Simone Durden earned MEAC cross country athlete of the week after her performance this past week.

Durden (So., Gainesville, Fla.) ran a time of 19:38:72 on the 5K course at the Florida Mountain Dew Invitational. She paced the Lady Rattlers, guiding them to a 13th place finish out of 18 teams.  Her mark ranks fifth in the MEAC on a 5K course this season.

Durden earned medalist honors last season in the MEAC cross country championships, in just her first year competing on the team.

The Lady Rattlers return to action this Friday at the B-CU Invitational in Daytona Beach, FL., where they are the are the two-time raining champions.
