NORFOLK,VA (Oct.30) –Norfolk State freshman Jessica Johnson was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Florida A&M's Yeisha Arcia earned Rookie of the Week accolades.
Johnson (5-10, Fr., OH, Land O'Lakes, Fla.) recorded 15 kills on 30 attacks with only one error for a .467 hitting percentage in a four-set win against Morgan State. Johnson added 13 digs, two blocks and two aces in the victory.
Arcia (5-11, OH, r-Fr., San Juan Puerto Rico) combined for 49 kills and 31 digs to aid the Lady Rattlers to a 2-1 mark last week. Against Savannah State, Arcia posted 13 kills on 15 attacks without any errors for a .865 hitting percentage.
Other Top Performers:
Maria Ceccarelli (FAMU) recorded back-to-back 20 plus kills against Troy and South Carolina State.
