Erik Webster-Rashad after serving as Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at FAMU will transition to the Executive Leadership Team in the position of Special Assistant to the Athletic Director. In that position he will have oversight primarily over all contracts and procurements related to athletics, and serve as coordinator of the volunteer, work study and internship programs within the Athletics Department. In addition, Rashad will act as a liaison to both FAMU’s Human Resource Department and General Counsel’s Office. Having a background in law, Rashad serves on the University’s Judicial Panel in addition to the Title XI Committee. In addition to his coaching duties, Rashad serves as the Color Analyst for the FAMU men’s basketball games on Rattler Vision.
In previous administrative leadership roles, Rashad has served as Executive Director and Chief Compliance Officer CCO) at Mavericks in Education Charter Schools where was he was instrumental in ramping up 9 high schools in addition to writing their policies and procedures, oversight of operations and conducting internal audits. Rashad also served as Director at Don Woods School which function as an expulsion school for the Polk County, Florida School District. For his efforts at both the junior and senior high school, Rashad was awarded letters of recognition from former Florida Governor Jeb Bush.
At Hillsborough Community College, Tampa, Florida, Rashad served as Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs with oversight of the Dual Enrollment Program. He later transitioned to Special Assistant to the Campus President (Ybor) in the position of Program Manager. In that capacity he served as liaison to the Children’s Board, and the Department of Juvenile Justice.
Prior to coming to “The Hill”, Rashad a coaching veteran of 22 years on the college and professional sports level, was hired by the Bahrain Olympic Committee as Head Men’s Basketball Coach and Director of Basketball Development for the Bahrain Junior and Senior National Teams. Rashad has the distinction of coaching 4 different National Teams, advancing them all to championship rounds. He also spent time as Associate Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel with the Tampa Thunderdawgs in the ABA, in addition to working as an Area Scout for the Portland Trailblazers in the NBA.
Rashad earned his AAS Degree in Criminal Justice from Nebraska Western College, a B.S Degree in Administrative Justice from Guilford College (NC), a M.Ed. Degree in Counselor Education from Prairie View A&M (TX), and graduated Cum Laude with a Juris Doctorate Degree in Executive Law from Taft University (CA). Additionally, Rashad is a certified circuit civil and family mediator by the Florida Supreme Court and is the President of the Global Mediation Group, L.L.C.
Rashad is a member of Who’s Who Among Professionals, Who’s Who Among Athletic Administrators, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., FIBA Olympic Solidarity Committee, the Virgil Hawkins Bar Association, and the National Counselors Honor Society. Rashad has one son, Jamaal Rashad who starred in football at Fresno State University.
