By: Florida A&M Sports Information

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida A&M (23-21, 11-7 MEAC) is set to host North Carolina Central (20-26, 10-10 MEAC) in a pivotal MEAC Southern Division series this weekend at Moore-Kittles Field. The series will begin with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1:00 PM and will conclude on Sunday at 1:00 PM.

With a series win this weekend the Rattlers would clinch a spot in the MEAC Conference Tournament in Salisbury, Maryland. Only the top three teams from the Southern Division qualify for the tournament.

North Carolina Central took the series in the previous meeting in Durham, North Carolina. The Eagles swept a doubleheader on Saturday and the Rattlers salvaged the series behind a career day from Aubrey McCarty in a mercy rule win on Sunday.

McCarty finished the game 5-for-5 with two home runs, two doubles, four runs scored, and seven RBI. The junior was just a triple shy of the cycle, and earned the win on the mound.

Florida A&M is 5-1 at home against North Carolina Central under Head Coach Jamey Shouppe, and the Rattlers carry a 6-3 mark during conference games at Moore-Kittles Field this season.

Ryan Anderson (3-2, 3.27 ERA) will lead the weekend rotation and start Game 1. Anderson has won three straight decisions, going at least seven innings and allowing two runs or less in each of those starts. Aubrey McCarty (5-3, 4.30 ERA) is coming off his second complete game performance and will start Game 2, and JoJo Durden (2-5, 4.63 ERA) will start the series finale.

North Carolina Central will start Jeffrey Hagen (1-3, 4.10 ERA), Jonathan Figueroa (3-5, 5.79 ERA), and Devin Sweet (4-3, 3.38 ERA) on the mound this weekend.

Dallas Oliver carries a 12-game hitting streak into the weekend. In his last 10 games, Oliver is batting .463 (19-for-41) with eight runs scored. Garrett Wilkinson has also come on strong as of late, batting .371 (13-for-35) in his last 10 games with five doubles and 11 RBI.

Florida A&M will also honor seniors Ben Ellzey, JoJo Durden, and Danny Rodriguez before the first game of the doubleheader on Saturday.
