(Tallahassee,Fla – Aug. 25) With the new school year rapidly approaching, the atmosphere here on The Highest of Seven Hills is like no other. The freshman class of 2021 has arrived, and with the Jake Gaither Football Classic only a few days away, school spirit is at an all time high. To ensure that these new Rattlers are ready and excited about this historic season opener, The Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) as well as some of our spirit organizations and the Diamonds of FAMU, came out to lend a helping hand with moving students into their dorms as well as served refreshing snow cones to cool things down.

Ashley Ivy, former track and field Captain, spoke to us about the importance of getting the student body involved in the athletic events and how it changes the dynamics of the sporting events. By passing out flyers and greeting new students and parents, Ivy really wanted to ensure the spirit at the FAMU Villages was filled with game day excitement. “It’s a lot we can look forward to [this football season],” said Ivy, “The team over the years has become better and better, the student fan base has grown so I do feel like that will add the atmosphere for home games and hopefully some away games as well.”

FAMU Football opens up the college football this Saturday facing off the Texas Southern Tigers at 12 pm airing on ESPNU. “I love college football,” said Arianna Reamey, sophomore Public relations Student here at FAMU, “Last season the football team really came out charged up! I can’t wait to see what they do this year.” And with last season being their best record since 2011, finishing 4-7, Rattler Football is ready to rock out Bragg Memorial Stadium to get the ball rolling this season.
