NORFOLK, Va. (Jan. 29 - The FAMU Women's Basketball team fell victim to cold shooting, suffering a 70-49 road loss at Norfolk State in Echols Hall Monday evening.

Freshman guard De'Ayra Davis led the Rattlers with 11 points, followed by senior guard Florence Ouattara with nine points, and senior forward Shakeyrra Morrison with eight points.

Morrison and junior center Shalunda Burney-Robinson had nine rebounds each Monday.

FAMU fell behind big in the opening stanza, 16-4 in the first six minutes and their 23 percent floor shooting on the night didn't help much.

The Rattlers did get back into contention a bit by halftime, trailing just 33-23, but their shots would not fall, allowing the Spartans (9-10, 5-1 MEAC) to pull away down the stretch..

FAMU (4-16, 2-5 MEAC) suffered their first double digit conference loss of the season Monday, after their last two setbacks were by a combined three points.

WHAT'S NEXT: The Rattlers host Savannah State Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. In the Lawson Center.
