MEAC Meetings Signals the Start of Football

Ten Rattler Gridders Selected All-MEAC
NORFOLK, Va. (July 27) - Ten FAMU Football players were namedFriday to the 2018 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Preseason All-Star Team announced during the league’s Football Media Day.
Seven Rattlers earned Second team honors, including senior RB Devin Bowers, junior OL Loubens Polinice, senior DE Antonio Miller, senior LB Jibreel Hazly, junior DB Terry Jefferson and senior DB Orlando McKinley, plus sophomore Punter Chris Faddoul.
Rounding out the FAMU “10” were a trio of Third team selections: junior QB Ryan Stanley, junior OL Obinna Nwankwo and senior OL Khalil Harris.
The Rattlers, who open the 2018 regular season on Saturday, September 1 at home against Fort Valley (Gs.) State in the Jake Gaither Classic, were picked to finish fifth (5th) in the league’s preseason poll.
Defending champion North Carolina A&T was the overwhelming favorite to win the 2018 race, garnering 19 of a possible 20 first place votes.
Howard University was picked to finish second, ahead of North Carolina Central and Bethune-Cookman.
Trailing FAMU in the pool was Norfolk State, South Carolina State, Savannah State, Morgan State and Delaware State.
