TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Aug. 17) - Coach Joe Taylor knows how to get the best from his team. With over 40 years of experience, he knows when to push the players and when to pull back. On today, after going extremely hard on Tuesday, Taylor changed up the routine to help preserve the Rattlers for just the right time. "In two-a-days, you have to get everything you can out of what we are teaching, so that when it comes to game preparation, we will be on schedule," Taylor told his team.
The segments were reduced, with a concentration on execution today. There were some big plays during drills, where Taylor put the first string offense and first string defense head-to-head.
Lashad Tookes, making the biggest play of the day, took a Damien Fleming pass, and scampered for a 50+ yard gain. On the defensive side, DJ Folsom made a huge hit from the middle linebacker spot, that echoed off the walls of the Al Lawson Center.
In special teams, Trevor Scott showed why he is in the elite category in the conference kickers as he nailed field goals from various spots as called out by special teams coach Juan Vasquez, offensive coordinator Lawrence Kershaw and Taylor.
The Rattlers open play on Sept.3, with a home game against Ft. Valley State, in a 6 p.m. kickoff. Tickets are now on sale at the Rattler Ticket Office and can be purchased by calling (850)599-3141, or online at www.FAMUAthletics.com
