FAMU had four Rattlers to score in double-figures as both Jamie Adams and Reggie Lewis contribute 18 points each. Jamari Bradshaw added 14 points, followed by Muhammad Abdul-Aleem with 11 points.
Markee Teal led the Rattlers on the boards with six, while both Bradshaw and Adams tallied five rebounds each. Lewis led FAMU in assists with five.
UH had two Cougars to finish with double-doubles as Leon Gibson finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while TaShawn Thomas finished with 11 points and 20 rebounds. Jherrod Stiggers added 19 points, while Brandon Morris finished with 12 points rounding out the cast of UH players in double-digit scoring.
The Cougars jumped out to a 7-3 lead on a Thomas put back with 17:45 to go in the first. FAMU retained the lead on a Bradshaw three pointer with 15:50 to go in the first, capping off an 8-0 run by the Rattlers, giving FAMU an 11-7 lead.
The Rattlers would extend their lead to 16-7 on an Abdul-Aleem layup with 14:25 to go in the first. UH would respond with a 9-4 run to cut FAMU's lead to 20-16 on a Leon Gibson jumper with 9:21 left.
FAMU made the score 30-20 on an Adams free throw with 6:19 to go in the game, capping a 10-4 run by Rattlers. UH tied the contest at 31-31 on a Stigger three-pointer with 3:25 left in the half, capping 11-1 run by the Cougars.
FAMU would then reel off four quick points as they went into the break with a 35-34 lead.
The Rattlers finished the first half shooting 42.6 percent (12-of-27), whereas the Cougars shot 37.1 (13-of-35) percent.
In the second stanza, both teams would tie each other six times. Adams would cut UH's lead to 73-72 on a three-pointer with 3:14 to go in the game, capping a 10-4 run by the Rattlers. UH would end the contest with a 9-4 run for the 81-76 win.
FAMU will return to action on Tuesday, November 13 as they will travel to DeLand, Fla., to take on Stetson University in a non-conference matchup.
