NORFOLK, VA (Nov.24) – FAMU senior wide receiver and pro prospect Travis Harvey and solid sophomore kicker Chase Varnadore, led the Rattlers on the 2012 All-MEAC football squad as announced by the MEAC today.  They made the first team squad, while Damien Fleming, Padric Scott, Brandon Hepburn and James Owens made the All-MEAC second team.

Delaware State quarterback Nick Elko was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's (MEAC) Offensive Player of the Year and Keith Pough of Howardearned the Defensive Player of the Year honor, as voted on by the MEAC's head football coaches and sports information directors.

Howard's Damon Gresham Chisholm earned the Rookie of the Year award andTerrance Hackney of Bethune-Cookman was selected as Offensive Lineman of the Year. 

Third-year head coach Brian Jenkins of Bethune-Cookman was named Coach of the Year.  Jenkins led the Wildcats to an unblemished 8-0 MEAC record and 9-2 overall mark.  The Wildcats edged out Florida A&M in the annual Florida Classic to seal its perfect record and the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Division I (FCS) Championships.  The Wildcats are currently ranked No. 22 in both the Sports Network's FCS and the FCS Coaches poll's.

Senior Nick Elko leads the MEAC in passing average per game (257.1 avg./g) and total offense (250.3 avg./g).  He completed 259 passes on 412 attempts with 15 touchdowns and ranks No. 3 in the MEAC in pass efficiency (130.1).    Elko completes a stellar four-year career at Delaware State finishing with 5,754 passing yards connecting on 539-of-911 attempts and 5,592 yards of total offense.

Keith Pough recorded 72 total tackles, 44 solo, with 10.0 for a loss of 50 yards during the 2012 campaign.  Pough became the FCS all-time record holder in tackles for a loss with 83 to cap his four-year collegiate career with the Bison.  He ranks 13^th in totl tackles as well as in tackles for a loss in the conference.  He also recorded 3.5 sacks for a loss of 35 yards, two quarterback hurries, one block, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and earned his first-career touchdown in a come-from-behind victory over Delaware State.  Pough has earned MEAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades twice this season. 

Damon Gresham Chisholm led the MEAC and ranks fourth in the nation in tackles for loss with 18.0 for 71 yards.  He ranked fifth on the team in total tackles with 41 and added five sacks, nine quarterback hurries, three forced fumbles and three recovered fumbles.  The Lumberton, New Jersey native earned Rookie of the Week accolades once this season. 

Terrance Hackney aided a dominating Wildcat offense that accounted for 4,235 yards of total offense including 2,722 yards on the ground.  Behind Hackney's blocking output Bethune-Cookman finished first in the MEAC in scoring offense (30.8 ppg), rushing offense (237.5 avg/g), and total offense (385.0 avg/g).  Hackney earned the conference's Offensive Lineman of the Week honor once this season.
