FAMU senior sprinter Dynasty Jones was named the MEAC Indoor Athlete of the week for her performance at the Liberty University Kickoff indoor track meet.  Jones won the 400m dash in 57.90, qualifying for the MEAC championship in her first effort of the season.  Sasha-Ann Lebert was honored as a top performer for her shot put and weight throw performances at the Liberty Kickoff.

NORFOLK, Va.- December 6, 2012- Morgan State junior Emmanuel Stewart and Coppin State freshman Deandra Daniels were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men's and Women's Field Athletes of the Week, while Hampton sophomore Edose Ibadin and Florida A&M senior Dynasty Jones were named the MEAC Men's and Women's Track Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Thursday.

 

Stewart (Jr., Trinidad, West Indies, Throws) led the Morgan State men's indoor track and field team at the Navy Invite on Saturday. Stewart won the weight throw posting a school record toss of 61-4.25 ft. (18.70m). The mark ranks him among the top five in the nation in the event.

 

Daniels (Fr., Trinidad & Tobago, High Jump) won the high jump at the Bow-Tie Classic by clearing 5-5.75 ft. (1.67m). As a team, the Lady Eagles earned a second-place finish out of 16 teams in team standings.

 

Ibadin (So., Glendale, Md., Sprints) posted the nation's top time and captured the gold in the 800m run at the Navy Invitational last Saturday (1:52.96). Ibadin was also a member or the 4x400m relay team that finished in second with a time of 3:20.30.

Jones (Sr., Orlando, Fla., Sprints) crossed the finish line first in the 400m dash at the Liberty Kickoff Tolsman Indoor Track with a time of 57.90. Jones also finished second in the 200m dash and ran the third leg of the 4X400m relay team that took home third place honors with a time of 4:02.67. Jones competed in four events at last weekend's meet and placed among the top five in each outing.

 

Other Top Performers:


Brandon Baskerville (CSU) cleared 6-8.25 ft. (2.04m) to win the high jump at the Navy Invitational.

 

Melissa Caddle (CSU) won the 200m dash (25.11) and ran a leg on the Eagles 4x400m relay team (4:03.52), which also finished first, at the Bow-Tie Classic.

Ryan Carter (DSU) ran the 400m dash at the Navy Invitational on Saturday in a time of 49.19.

 

Sydni Cobb (NCAT) finished second in the shot put with a 45-05.00 ft. mark at the JDL College Kickoff. She also threw a 47-05.75 ft. mark in the weight throw.

 

Jeremy Dorsey (CSU) finished first in the 200m with a time of 22.20 and was second in the 60m hurdles in 8.19 at the Navy Invitational.

 

Corrin Harris (Hampton) jumped 22-09.75 ft. (6.95m) in the long jump at the Navy invitational to win the event.

 

Christian Harrison (NCAT) broke a school record by running the 1,000 meters in 2:28.46 at the JDL College Kickoff, finishing second.


Sasha-Ann Lebert (FAMU) recorded a mark of 41-10.75 ft. (12.77m) in the shot put and 48-07.25 ft. (14.81m) in the weight throw at the Liberty Kickoff.


Dillon Simon (UMES) threw a 52-10.00ft. toss (16.10m) in the shot put at the Navy Invitational to win the event.
