Rattlers Sweep MEAC Track Players of the Week

NORFOLK, Va., January 9, 2014 – Florida A&M seniors Troy Pollard and Chandelic Jackson were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Track Athletes of the Week. FAMU’s Dennis McGee and Sasha Ann Lebert were named the MEAC Men’s and Women’s Field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Thursday.

Pollard (Sr., St. Paul, Minn., Sprints) finished second in the 200m, with a time of 22:09, and ran the first leg of the 4x400 relay, with a split of 46.4, as the team placed first at the Ed Temple Classic.

Jackson (Sr., Dallas, Ga., Distance) captured first in the one-mile run, with a time of 5:19.44, and placed second in the 3,000-meter run in 10:44.14 at the Ed Temple Classic.

McGee (So., Gainesville, Fla., Thrower) competed in two events at the Ed Temple Classic, as he finished first in the shot put and third in the weight throw. McGee toss 13.44m (44-01.25 ft.) in the shot put and 13.35m (43-09.75 ft.) in the weight throw.

Lebert (Jr., Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Thrower) placed second in the weight throw and third in the shot put at the Ed Temple Classic. Lebert threw 16.28m (53-05.00 ft.) in the weight throw and 13.01m (42-08.25 ft.) in the shot put.
