The Florida A&M vs. Texas Southern football game will kick off the NCAA Division-I football season as the game slated for a 12 noon kickoff has been designated the inaugural Jake Gaither Classic.  The game will be broadcasted on ESPNU.  The 12 noon kickoff will be great to get the day started, but also comes with its share of precautions.

To combat the temperatures, we will have additional health care providers in attendance.  Clearly marked tents and ambulances will be present.  The FAMU Health Services area will have free bottled water.  Free cups of ice will be available throughout the game.  A U.S. Army "water buffalo" will be available to patrons on the East side of the stadium.  FAMU Athletics will also serve a number of FREE snow cones for fans to enjoy.

We want to ensure the best game day experience for all fans, so here are a few tips:

1) Begin hydrating 48 hours before the game.  Despite what commercials tell you, water is the best hydrant available.  Sugary drinks could actually lead to dehydration.

2) Wear light clothing.  It is important to wear breathable fabrics and light-colored clothing.  Dark colored clothing radiates heat and is not advisable for the game.  In light of this, the first game is dubbed "The White Out."  Rattler fans are encouraged to wear white FAMU gear.

3) FAMU is in its move-in period, with students returning to Tallahassee to begin school Monday.  Traffic may be difficult to navigate, due to the increased density of cars.  Make sure to leave in time to arrive at the game in case there is any delay.

4) Gates to Bragg Stadium will open at 11 AM.  For practical reasons, the stadium will open to the public just one hour prior to kickoff.

5) Because of the move-in happening, FAMU Athletics will only secure parking in Bragg Stadium and the parking garage. All other lots will be available free of charge on Saturday to accommodate the move-in.
