Rattler Women Drop Tough Game To Alabama, 91-55

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (Dec. 28) - The FAMU Women's Basketball team dropped a 91-55 road decision at the University of Alabama in their final non-conference game of the season Thursday night at Coleman Coliseum.

Thursday's loss was the fourth straight for FAMU (2-11), which struggled shooting from the floor, and were hampered by tunrovers against the Crimson Tide (10-3).

FAMU fell behind, 26-8 out of the gate in the opening stanza, and they were unable to make up any ground the rest of the game, thanks to shooting 34 percent (20 of 58) from the floor, coupled with 25 turnovers.

Meanwhile, Alabama stepped up their floor shooting in the final three quarters, going from a 39 percent clip in the opening stanza, to a torrid 62 percent average during final 30 minutes to finish with a 54 percent game effort (36 of 66).

Junior guard Florence Ouattara led FAMU with 18 points, four assists and four steals. Junior center Shalunda Burney-Robinson added 10 points and eight rebounds. Senior guard Dawn King scored eight points, while sophomore Dy'Manee Royal finished with six points and six rebounds.

Jasmine Walker led Alabama with 19 points and eight rebounds, with Shaquera Wade adding 12 points.

WHAT'S NEXT: Florida A&M opens Mid-Eastetn Athletic Conference play next Wednesday, Jan. 3 at home against Howard University in the Al Lawson Center. Tip off will be 6:00 p.m.
