 Alex Jackson

Jackson comes to FAMU after serving as offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Prarie View A&M under coach Willie Simmons. The Quincy native spent three years at Mississippi Valley State where he served first as offensive line coach, adding offensive coordinator to his title along the way. He spent a year as quality control offensive assistant at the University of Georgia (2014). During the tenure at Georgia, the offensive production was fourth overall in the SEC. The Bulldogs led the SEC in scoring (41.3 PPG) and rushing offense (257.8 YPG). The Georgia team finished second in the SEC East, earning a trip to the Belk Bowl where the defeated the Louisville Cardinals.

After taking over the offensive coordinator duties midway through the 2012 season at MVSU, the team made a marked improvement. Averaging just nine points per game before Jackson took over the reigns of the offense, they churned out 23.5 points per game over the last six games in which he was calling the plays.

Among the players Jackson has mentored Jordan Johnson (2nd Team All-SWAC [2015]), Donovan Wheaton (2nd Team All-SWAC [2016]), Gustavo Lopez (2nd Team All-SWAC [2016]) and Shawn Pierce (2nd Team All-SWAC [2017]).

Jackson also served as the offensive coordinator and offensive line for coach East Gadsden High School in Havana, Fla. during the 2004, 2008 and 2009 seasons.  Jackson was a two-year starter at Georgia (2001/2002).  As a senior, Jackson started 11 games and was a member of the team that won Georgia's first SEC championship in 20 years, defeating Florida State for the Nokia Sugar Bowl, finished with a final No.3 national ranking. 

Jackson signed a contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars of the NFL as a player (2003). His career was cut short by injuries.

Jackson graduated with a B.S. in Speech Communications from the University of Georgia in 2006. While at Langston University in 2012, he earned a Master's degree in Educational Leadership.
