FAMU Bowling Team Earns National Academic Honors

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (July 15) – A trio of Florida A&M Women’s Bowling Team members as well as the full Lady Rattler squad were recognized recently by the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) for outstanding academic performance during the 2018-19 school year.

@ The FAMU Women’s Team, coached by Karen Brown, was one of 38 teams in the NCAA to post a 3.2 or higher team grade point average.

In fact, FAMU’s 3.280 team GPA placed them ahead of such national luminaries as Vanderbilt and Nebraska, while also making them one of five Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference teams (UMES, UAB, Monmouth,FAMU and North Carolina A&T) to make the national rankings.

@ The NTCA Individual Rankings, composed of 256 student-athletes who maintained a 3.4 or higher GPA, featured a FAMU contingent that included junior Chelsie Cleaves (Memphis, TN), and freshmen Leanne McLaughlin (Cocoa, FL) and Leanne Militscher (Brooksville, FL).
