Lady Rattlers Defeat Eagles in Three Sets

TALLAHASSEE, FL (Oct. 11) – The Florida A&M Lady Rattlers (6-12, 4-1 MEAC) defeated the NCCU Eagles (3-15, 2-3 MEAC) 3-0 in a hotly-contested match at the Lawson Center. The Rattlers were led by Maria Yvet Garcia who tallies 13 kills on the Eagles.

The Lady Rattlers were aided by six aces, two each from Kalen Blathers, Elena Dimitrova and Alexys Mann. Alyssa Brown, Mann and Dimitrova also led the Rattlers with two blocks each.

In the first set, the Lady Rattlers jumped out to a lead, but were reeled in by the Eagles who were led in the match by Christine Alcox with six kills.  Ammaarah Williams assisted the resurgence, with a match-leading three blocks.  The lady Rattlers would stabilize under a total team effort and win the first match 25-23.

The second set would be all FAMU as they raced to a 25-10 win.  They would close out the game with a 25-20 set, winning in straight sets and remaining atop the MEAC southern division.

The Lady Rattlers will take on the Aggies of North Carolina A&T on Sun., Oct. 13 at 1PM in the Lawson Center.
