HONOLULU, Hawai’i | Brendon Myles and MJ Randolph poured in 12 points each as the Florida A&M University men’s basketball team dropped a 76-54 decision to Pacifici during the second day of the 55th Annual Outriggers Resorts Rainbow Classic at the Stan Sheriff Center on Sunday night.
Florida A&M (0-3) kept the game close in the first half and trailed at the break, 33-28. However, Pacific (2-1) outscored FAMU in the second half, 43-26, to pick up the tournament win.
Myles finished with 12 points and two rebounds, while Randolph added 12 points, a team-high four assists, two boards and one steal. Bryce Moragne and Nasir Core registered eight and seven points, respectively.
Amari McCray paced Pacific with 12 points, seven rebounds and one block. Justin Moore and Gary Chivichyan recorded 11 points each, while Broc Finstuen chipped in 10 points.
The Rattlers kept the game close throughout the first half and tied the contest at 8 with exactly 15 minutes left after a Bryce Moragne jumper.
However, the Tigers used a 12-4 run over the next six-plus minutes to grab a 22-13 lead after an Amari Mccray bucket with 8:37 remaining in the first half.
Florida A&M battled back and trimmed the deficit to 28-26 after a MJ Randolph layup with 4:16 left in the period. Pacific pushed the to 30-26 after a layup by Mccray, but back came the Rattlers as Evins Desir sank a pair at the free-throw line to cut the margin to 30-28 with 2:37 remaining.
The Tigers closed out the first half with a free throw by James Hampshire and a layup by Pierre Cockrell to give Pacific a 33-28 advantage at the break.
Pacific started the second half strong and used an 11-4 run, capped by a dunk by Hampshire, to extend the lead to 44-32 with 13:45 remaining.
The Tigers stretched the advantage to 62-41 after a Cockrell layup with 7:29 left and the Rattlers could not recover over the final seven minutes.

> Florida A&M shot 39.1 percent (18-of-46) from the floor and 659.1 percent (13-of-22) from the charity stripe
> Pacific was 31-of-59 (52.5 percent) from the field and 8-of-18 (44.4percent) from the foul line
> FAMU registered 24 rebounds, including 18 on the defensive glass
> Pacific pulled down40 rebounds, with 26 coming on the defensive end
> The Rattlers finished with 27 bench points, 16 points in paint, 10 points off 10 Tiger turnovers, seven fastbreak points and four second-chance points
> The Tigers recorded 48 points in the paint, 43 bench points, 25 points off 15 Rattler turnovers, 14 fastbreak points and eight second-chance points
Florida A&M concludes play in the 55th Annual Outrigger Resorts Rainbow Classic on Sunday against South Dakota. Tip off against Pacific is set for 8:30 p.m. from the Stan Sheriff Center.
