FAMU Women Drop Tight Decision To Notre Dame

BOCA RATON, Fla. The FAMU Softball team scored a late run in a 4-1 tournament-ending loss to Notre Dame in the FAU/FIU Invitational Sunday afternoon.


Notre Dame (14-7) scored two runs in the top of the first, and single runs in the fifth and sixth to build a 4-0 lead over the Rattlers (6-17), which was held hitless until the bottom of the sixth.


Shakayla Nixon and Tyra Bowers each singled, advanced to third and second on Jamesia Stoudemire’s sacrifice bunt, with Nixon scoring on Taylor Rosier’s RBI ground out.


Kyaira Brown went the distance in the circle for FAMU, allowing four runs on 10 hits in seven innings.


ON DECK: FAMU will close out their tournament schedule this weekend in Clearwater in the USF Invitational.
