TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Oct. 4) - The FAMU Women's Volleyball team got off to a 2-0 start in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play this past weekend with road wins at South Carolina State and Savannah State, and two key performers for the Orange and Green have been recognized by the conference for their singular efforts this season.
Freshman middle blocker Candeleria Herrera (San Juan, Argentina) has been named MEAC Rookie of the Week in back-to-back weeks, on Sept. 26 and just this past Monday.
Junior Valentina Carrasco, a libero from Lima, Peru, has been named the MEAC Defensive Player of the Wekk two times as well, on August 28 and again on September 18.
FAMU (5-8, 2-0 MEAC) will travel to Daytona Beach for the Friday match with archrival Bethune-Cookman at 7:00 p.m. in Moore Gymnasium.
The Rattler Women return home next weekend to host North Carolina Central (6:00) on Friday, and North Carolina A&T (3:00) on Sunday.
