TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Feb. 10) - Freshman De'Ayra Davis sank a pair of free throws with 23 seconds left in overtime to lift the Florida A&M Women's Basketball team to an 84-81 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference victory over North Carolina Central in the Al Lawson Center Saturday evening.

The win  snapped a five-game losing string for FAMU (5-19, 3-8 MEAC), while visiting Central fell to 6-17, 4-6 in the MEAC.

Senior Florence Ouattara knocked down a crucial three-pointer with 1:17 left in the extra frame to put FAMU ahead, 82-79, before Kieche White's layup with 1:02 left for NCCU, cut the FAMU lead to one point, 82-81.

FAMU struggled early on. shooting under 30 percent in the first two quarters, trailing 36-25 at halftime, but began turning the tide in the third period, outscoring the Eagles, 24-15, to close two points, 51-49 heading into the fourth.

The Rattlers outpaced the Eagles, 22-20 in the fourth, sending the game to overtime on Ecenur "E" Yurdakul's  three-pointer, which tied the score at 71-71 with 1:11 left in regulation.

Ouattara led FAMU with 20 points, followed by Yurdakul and Shakeyrra Morrison with 17 points each, and Davis with 13 points. Dawn King finished with nine points and Dy'Manee Royal added eight to round out the FAMU scoring. Morrison pulled down a game high 12 rebounds, while Royal finished with 10 boards.

Kieche White of NCCU led all scorers with 24 points to set the pace for the Eagles.
