Rattlers Down NSU Colonels To Take Match 4-3

Thibodaux, La. (Feb.11) - The Florida A&M men's tennis team picked up a big win over Nicholls State at the Colonel's Tennis Complex on Saturday. The Rattlers took the hard route as they lost the doubles point 2-1 to start the match, but went into the singles with a determination to win, and they did.

Salif Kante and Chidi Gariel defeated Sidharth Sivakumar and Palash Tiwari 8-3, to score the only victory in the doubles match. Fabrice Myrtil and Temuera Asafu-Adjaye went down to Dmitry Kozionov and Shayann Vaezzadeh in a lopsided 8-3 loss. The Colonels would close out the doubles with a Levan Clark and Takura Happy defeat at 8-6 to Nicholls State's Damjan Despotovski and Roy Knight.

Kante would continue his red hot season with a 6-4,6-1 dismantling of Kozionov in the No.1 position. In the No.2 position, Clark would go down to Despotovoski 6-4,6-0.

The Rattlers would then string together two consecutive victories as Takura Happy defeated Shayann Vaezzadeh 6-4,7-5 in the No.3 position. Chidi Gabriel would down Roy Knight 6-4,7-5 in the No.4 position.

Nicholls State would get their only other point in the No.5 position as Myrtil went down 6-3,6-4 to Sivakumar.

The Rattlers would close the door with a solid 6-1, 6-2 defeat of Palash Tiwari by Temuera Asafu-Adjaye in the No.6 position to give FAMU the 4-3 victory.
