TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (April 8)
- The Florida A&M University Women’s Tennis team celebrated Senior
day with a 7-0 victory over Fort Valley State, here Friday afternoon at the
FAMU Tennis Court.
Latreece Olagbegi, a 5-8 senior from Hampton, Ga., won the No.3 singles spot in straight sets as she defeated Briana Pettiford, 6-0, 6-0,
while Maria Gomez, a 6-0
senior from
Guayaquil, Eucador won the No. 4 singles spot defeating Chelsea Spoar in straight
sets, 6-0, 6-0.
Brittany Dean and Kathline Durden
also won their single matches in straight
sets as Dean defeated Yanelle Aramin, 6-1, 6-1 in the No.1 singles slot, while
Durden defeated Roberta Robinson, 6-1, 6-2 in the No.2 singles.
The Lady Rattlers completed their sweep of
singles play as Bethany Holt defeated Chandelle Chiles, 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 5
singles slot, while Shani Williams defeated Ashanta Edwards, 6-1, 6-1 to the win the
No. 6 singles.
FAMU dominated doubles play
as they won the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 doubles 8-0.
Up next for the Lady Rattlers
will be the 2011 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tennis Tournament in Raleigh,
Va., April 15 through April 17.
