TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (May 10) - Troy University scored in every
inning except for the fourth inning as they handed the Florida A&M University
Baseball team a 12-2 loss, here Tuesday evening at Moore-Kittles Field.
TU (35-14) finished the game with 12 hits, while FAMU
(17-36) tallied eight.
Tobi Adeyemi led the Rattlers from the plate as he collected
three hits in four at-bats, while Tyler Hannah garnered three hits to lead the
Trojans.
TU used seven pitchers as William Teal (3-0) picked up the
win for the Trojans as he gave up two hits and earned run in one inning of work.
Thomas Barwick (4-5) received the loss for the Rattlers as
he gave up six hits, six earned runs and struck out two in six innings of
work.
TU jumped out to 1-0 lead in the top of the first as Tyson
Workman scored on a FAMU infielder’s error.
FAMU regained the lead in the bottom of the first as both
Adeyemi and Antonio Kilpatrick scored on Cory Franklin single to the left side,
giving the Rattlers a 2-1 lead.
In the top of the second inning, TU would plate three more
runs to take 4-2 lead as both Jacob Dixon and Logan Pierce scored on a Daniel
Peterson double to right field. Peterson would then score on a Tyler Hannah
single.
The Trojans would scored seven more runs as they picked up a
run in the third, a run in the fifth, one run in the sixth, one run in the seventh and four runs in the
eighth for the 12-2 victory.
The Rattlers will return to action as they will travel to
Jacksonville, Fla., for a two-game series against Jacksonville University,
beginning on Friday, May 13.
