UCF finished the contest with a gam- high 20 hits with six of the them being for doubles as James Vasquez tallied three hits in four at-bats to lead the Knights from the plate.
The Rattlers finished with five hits as John Scott collected two hits in two at-bats to lead the Rattlers.
Ben Lively (5-0) got the win for UCF as he pitched three scoreless innings in relief, while Christopher Priestly (0-4) received the loss for FAMU as he gave up five hits, two earned runs and struck out one in four innings on the mound.
UCF jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as D.J. Hicks scored on a FAMU error.
Chris Taladay, who reached first on a error in his at-bat, added to the Knight's lead in the top of the third inning as he scored on a James Vasquez single to right field, giving UCF a 2-0 lead.
The Knights' starting pitcher, Matt Collins, had successfully retired the first nine Rattlers batters he faced until Jared Walker reached first as he was hit by a pitch in the top of the fourth inning as FAMU took advantage of a UCF error scoring both Walker and Khiry Hernandez, tying the game at 2-2. The Rattlers would then take the lead on an Aaron Smith single to left center, scoring Reginald Grant, and giving FAMU a 3-2 lead.
UCF tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the fourth as Ronnie Richardson doubled down the left field line scoring Tommy Williams. The Knights would take the lead as Hicks doubled to left center scoring Richardson, giving the Knights a 4-3 lead.
Spencer Haynes took advantage of a FAMU infielder's error as he scored increasing the Knights' lead to 5-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning, followed by a Hicks single to right field scoring Richardson, making the score 6-3 in favor of UCF. The Knights would score two more runs in the inning on an another FAMU error, giving the Knights an 8-3 lead.
UCF would then erupt for in the bottom of the seventh inning as they scored eight runs to take a 16-3 lead over the Rattlers.
FAMU would score their final run of the game as Michael Birdsong scored on an UCF infielder's error, for the 16-4 finale.
The Rattlers will return to action on Wednesday, April 11 as they will welcome the University of North Florida to the Moore-Kittles Field in a 6 p.m. night cap.
