Led by Metro Atlanta FAMU NAA President, James McLemore, a committee of Atlanta Rattlers hosted a fundraiser for the FAMU Athletics Department on Friday, June 15. In attendance were, FAMU Football Coach Joe Taylor, Men's Basketball Coach Clemon Johnson, Women's Basketball Coach LeDawn Gibson and Men's Tennis Coach Carl Goodman.
A huge success, this was the first of a series of hosted events led by Rattlers across the country. FAMU Athletics operates as an auxiliary enterprise of the University, relying on private donations, ticket sales, student fees and conference revenue to fund 18 varsity sports. As the costs of higher education and maintaining a successful athletic program continue to escalate, sustained private annual contributions are critical. In addition to funding annual scholarships (including tuition, fees, room and board), donations will supplement general operating costs, maintenance and upkeep of facilities, and provide budget support for individual sports.
Also in attendance were Derek Horne, Director of Athletics and Angela Suggs, Assistant AD for Marketing and Fundraising. On behalf of the over 300 student-athletes, these efforts are greatly appreciated. If you are interested in hosting an event in your area, please contact Angela Suggs at firstname.lastname@example.org or 850-561-2177.
