Andrea Johnson joined the Florida A&M Women's Basketball coaching staff in July of 2008. She will assist in all aspects of coaching, but will handle day-to-day administrative duties.
Johnson began her coaching career at her alma mater, Tusculum College in Greenville, Tenn., as a student assistant coach for the 2006-07 season. Her duties included game planning and setting up facilities for practices and game day events.
After she graduated from Tusculum, Johnson became the assistant girl's basketball coach at All Saints Academy in Winter Haven, Fla., and also served as a substitute teacher in August of 2007, a position, she held until accepting the assistant women's coach position at Florida A&M.
Johnson has participated in several internships, in May of 2006 and 2007 she worked the MLK / Winter Haven Shootout in Winter Haven, Fla. Where she served as an event coordinator and solicited local restaurants and business for donations.
In July of 2006, Johnson interned with the Adidas Showtime Tournament / All American Camp, where she was an assistant travel coordinator.
Johnson has also worked as Summer Coordinator, where she planned fundraising events for the Winter Haven Girl's Basketball team from 2002 to 2007.
A firm believer in giving back to the community, Johnson has volunteered at Hal Henard Elementary School, Adopt-A-Road, Tracy McGrady Basketball Camp and Bull Ballers Program.
At Hal Henard Elementary School in Greenville, Tenn., Johnson developed a Slam Dunk Reading program for all elementary school students, to help them to learn to read and also enjoying reading at the same time.
As a member of Adopt-A-Road program in Greenville, Tenn., she and other members of the Tusculum College Women's Basketball Team adopted a local road, making sure that the road stayed clean.
Johnson, as a Tracy McGrady Basketball Camp counselor worked with kids from the ages of 5 to 14 teaching them the basic fundamentals of basketball.
In the Bulls Baller Mentoring Program, Johnson served as a mentor for area youth in Greenville, Tenn., that were aspiring to become basketball players.
Johnson holds a B.A. in Sports Management (2007), from Tusculum, where she finished her career averaging 9.6 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. She also holds an M.A. from FAMU in Sports Leisure and Management (2010).
This Winter Haven, Florida native was an All-State, All-Conference performer at Winter Haven, High School under current Florida A&M Head Women's Coach LeDawn Gibson. Also Johnson was ranked in the top 100 in the state of Florida and was ranked in the 50 at her position in the state of Florida.
