Lady Rattlers in semifinal round of B-CU tourney

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. (Oct. 29) - The Florida A&M Bowling team dropped one place after day two of the Wildcat Invitational as they finished the day with a record of 3-3 in head-to-head competition, currently in fourth place, here Saturday afternoon at Ormond Lanes.

FAMU finished the day with a total pin fall of 9,527, trailing Morgan State (9,536) by just nine pins, who are currently in third place.

The Lady Rattlers dropped their first match to Tulane University (787-775).

FAMU would bounce back as they won their next three matches defeating South Carolina State (991-765), the University of Alabama at Birmingham (881-758) and tourney host Bethune-Cookman (853-831).

Then the Lady Rattlers would drop their final two matches on the day with losses to Southern Univ. (817-741) and Delaware State (926-897).

The Lady Rattlers were paced by Samantha Mighty as she bowled a team high 225 against South Carolina State, followed by a 220 performance by Janell Dykes against Delaware State. Behind them were Lauren Matthews and Katherine Jones. Matthews tallied a 216 performance against Bethune-Cookman, while Jones garnered a 214 performance against South Carolina State.

No. 4 seed FAMU will face No. 1 seed Farleigh-Dickinson, while no. 2 seed Delaware State will face No. 3 seed Morgan State in the semifinal round at 8:30 a.m. Then the two winners will face each other in the championship match at 10 a.m., on Sunday, Oct. 30 at Ormand Lanes.
