Allen Leads Lady Rattlers In Gator Invite

GAINESVILLE, FL. (Jan.22) - The Florida A&M Lady Rattlers made progress against some tough competition at the Gator Invite, today at the O'Connell Center on the campus of the University of Florida. Ariel Allen was the top performer for the Lady Rattlers as she scorched to a first place finish in the 800m run. Her time of 2:14.33 bested the field on the blue indoor track.

Chandelic Jackson finished just behind Allen in the 800m run, taking third place with a time of 2:16.93. In the triple jump, Kinnesha Jones took home third place with a jump of 11.69m (38-04.25). Sasha-Ann Lebert would also take home a third place finish, with a 13.19m (43-03.25) throw in the shot put.

Sprinter Jasmine Smith took third place in the collegiate division of the 200m dash. Her time of 25.236 was just faster than teammate Nakia Linson, who finished in 25.53, which was sixth place in the collegiate division. Jasmine Pleasant finished ninth in the 200m dash (25.77) and Richena Louis finished 10th (25.83).

In the 400m dash, Dynasty Jones took fifth place in the collegiate division in a time of 57.79. Teammate RaTeema Stanley took ninth in 58.42.

Linson would add to her accolades with a top 10 finish in the 55m dash, in a time of 7.22. Jackson would take sixth place in the mile run with a 5:10.90 time. Distance runner Nadine Mulvaney took home 10th place in the 3000m run with a 10:4.53 finish.

High jumper Stephanie Colter held down seventh place with a leap of 5-02.50.

The Lady Rattlers return to action this weekend at the Clemson indoor meet, which is their last event before the MEAC Indoor Track Championship.
