Men’s Basketball:

Michael A. Randolph Jr, 6'4, PG, 2018, Booker T Washington H.S in Pensacola,Fl

“We’re elated over Michael “MJ” Randolph, Jr’s decision to further his academic and basketball endeavors at FAMU. Every young man we sign brings value to FAMU while pursuing their goals. That said, it’s very important to be able to recruit quality in-state student-athletes.” “Using “coach speak,” we got a steal in MJ.” He’s a 6’4 point guard with a great feel for how the game should be played. His size, defensive prowess and understanding of how to play should enable him to help our team from day one. Even more impressive is the manner in which he’s distinguished himself academically as he prepares to pursue a degree in Physical Therapy. If that’s not enough, MJ also manages to find time to mentor a seven year old kid at 7:00 AM once a week. MJ who attends Pensacola Washington HS was named 1st Team All Area, and Scholar Athlete of The Year in 2016-17. MJ’s sister Crystal is in the School of Nursing at FAMU. – Robert McCullum, Head Basketball Coach

Dexter Smith:

We’re thrilled to announce the addition of 6’3 shooting guard Dexter Smith to our program. Dexter, a Chicago native currently attends Shawnee Community College in Ullin, IL. “The way we want to play and build our program, along with where the game of basketball has gone from a style of play standpoint, having outstanding 3pt shooters is an absolute must.” Dexter brings that ability to our program. In addition, he’s a very good defender who takes a great deal of pride in his defense. Dexter is also really advanced in terms of his commitment in the weight room.  Dexter had 6 games as a high school senior where he made 5 or more 3 pointers in a game. He began his freshman year on fire from 3 pt range before being sidelined with a stress fracture in his foot. “Without question, we expect Dexter to come in next season and distinguish himself as one of the MEAC’s premier 3pt shooters.” – Robert McCullum, head Basketball Coach

LeAnne McLaughlin, of Space Coast Jr./Sr. High, accepted Coach Karen Brown’s challenge in becoming the latest addition to the 2018-2019 bowling squad.  LeAnne is projected to graduate earning the High School diploma, while simultaneously earning the Associate of Science Degree, both with honors.  Her bowling prowess is legendary.
