Stanley and Faddoul earn weekly MEAC honors

NORFOLK, Va. | Florida A&M University football student-athletes Ryan Stanley and Chris Faddoul garnered Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) weekly honors on Monday, while Xavier Smith also received national accolades.


Stanley finished the game against Southern University with a career-high 355 yards passing,  completing 24 of 39 passes with two touchdowns. In addition, the red-shirt senior quarterback became the Rattlers’ career record-holder for completions during their 27-21 win over  the Jaguars. Stanley is now fourth on the Rattlers’ career passing list.


Faddoul was instrumental in the Rattlers’ 27-21 victory over Southern, as he punted the ball four times for 174 yards, averaging 43.5 yards per punt. He landed two punts inside the 20-yard line and converted on a two-point conversion for FAMU.


Smith, who celebrated a birthday on Saturday, was named STATS FCS National Offensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention after his performance against Southern. Smith registered 201 yards on nine catches – including three times during the final drive. The Haines City, Fla. native caught the game-winning touchdowns, which gave Florida A&M the 27-21 lead with 3:32 remaining in the final quarter.


Florida A&M returns to action on Saturday with the MEAC opener at Norfolk State. Kickoff against the Spartans is set for 4 p.m. from William “Dick” Price Stadium and the game can be streamed live on ESPN3.
